The Foscarini brand stands for Italian luminaire design that seduces when switched on and surprises when switched off. The company, which was founded in 1981 on the Venetian island of Murano, lends living spaces aesthetic and emotional quality with its lighting designs. Foscarini has been working with internationally recognized designers and local craftsmen for over 35 years. Numerous lights with cult status have emerged from this - for both private and public use.
All Foscarini luminaire designs follow the words Fare Luce, which means to make light. The message is that content is transported and illuminated in a new way by means of the shape of a luminaire. The creation process under the motto Fare Luce encompasses the world of creation and shaping on the one hand and the world of visions, thoughts and light on the other.
All Foscarini designers create with passion, emotion and feeling. Enthusiasm is one of the driving forces in the creative process. Great importance is attached to the freedom to think through and implement lighting ideas without mental blinkers. A dialog between concept and form, which constantly results in new designs, is also one of the company's cornerstones. Last but not least, the Italian roots characterize the creative process, with a particular focus on high-quality craftsmanship.
Foscarini designers love to play freely and experiment with a wide variety of materials. At the top of the list for the Murano-based company was initially traditional glass art and thus blown glass. Gradually, fiberglass composite material, painted PVC and metal, concrete and silicone are also being used - not to mention ABS plastic, steel and aluminum. The company has put a great deal of research into the material mix of glass fiber and carbon fiber that is used in Mite and Tite by Marc Sadler.
Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato joined Foscarini as creative heads. In 1988 they became the new owners. The Folio lamp, a reinterpretation of traditional glassblowing, was designed by her. Over the years, they have created the basis for ever new creations that know no limitations in terms of design, processing techniques and cultural references. Carlo Urbinati has been the sole Managing Director and President of Foscarini since 2014.
Foscarini designer Marc Sadler has many years of experience as an industrial designer in the sports industry. The use of ever new materials and innovative production processes also characterizes his luminaire designs. His innovative and experimental approach has resulted in award-winning cult models such as Mite and Tite, which are made from a mixture of fiberglass and carbon fiber. The Kite, Twiggy, Tress and Jamaica luminaires have also become modern classics thanks to their innovative look and technology.
Patricia Urquiola has made a name for herself internationally as an architect and designer and has received numerous awards for her work. Her lighting creation for Foscarini is called Caboche Plus and was created in collaboration with Eliana Gerotto. The famous luminaire model is a fascinating symbiosis of technology and creativity.
Rodolfo Dordoni penned the timeless classic Lumiere. The famous Foscarini model completely reinterprets the classic lampshade. Made of blown glass, it conveys emotions and impresses with its absolutely purist beauty. In addition to Lumiere, Dordoni created the Buds collection for Foscarini and also designed showrooms and exhibitions.
Alongside Birdie, Tartan and Rituals, the Gregg luminaire series is an outstanding creation by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba for Foscarini. With its organic shape, it is reminiscent of well-formed pebbles. The designer couple stands for objects that enter into a dialog with their owners and build relationships that are characterized by longevity.
Together they created the Foscarini classic Big Bang: We are talking about the designers Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jimenez. The Big Bang product family combines chaos and geometry and is a real eye-catcher. The dynamic structure of interlocking surfaces creates a theatrical effect - ideal for a luminous appearance in large rooms.
Controlling light and adapting it to individual needs - this is possible with MyLight. All you need is your smartphone or tablet, the free Casambi app for control via Bluetooth and Foscarini luminaires equipped with a MyLight module. These are automatically recognized by the app when switched on. Brightness and color temperature can be regulated and a wide variety of lighting compositions created. A timer function starts programmed scenes, even if the smartphone is not currently switched on.
