ANDTRADITION

&TRADITION - A TRIBUTE TO DENMARK'S DESIGN HERITAGE

With true legends such as Verner Panton and Arne Jacobsen, Denmark can look back on a long design tradition. &Tradition, founded in 2010 under the name "Unique Copenhagen", not only picks up licensed designs from those great designers, but also brings them together with hand-picked designs by renowned international artists of our time. These include the studios "Space Copenhagen", a.k.a. Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, and "Norm Architects", behind which are Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, Kasper Rønn and Linda Korndal. The name &Tradition therefore means a loving devotion to tradition, but also dares to take a step forward with new technologies and ideas. This is modern Denmark!

The designers of &Tradition

Verner Panton - Flowerpot

Verner Panton(1926-1998) is considered one of the most influential furniture and interior designers of the 20th century. Century. He studied under the great design legend Arne Jacobsen before creating his own unique style with his avant-garde and visionary designs and the use of plastic and psychedelic colors, for example.

The colorful Flowerpot lighting series made of polycarbonate became a symbol of the flower power peace movement in 1968 and is just as synonymous with modernity today as it was back then.

Arne Jacobsen - Bellevue

Arne Emil Jacobsen (1902-1971) was one of Denmark's most important architects and designers and was completely devoted to functional and timeless design. In addition to luminaire design, he is also known for buildings and interiors, such as the SAS Royal Hotel from 1960, which was designed entirely by the master of Danish modernism.

The Bellevue lamp has a characteristic slender swan neck and is a sign of Jacobsen's sense of clear form and exquisite sense of proportion. It is also historically regarded as the beginning of Scandinavian minimalism.

Signe Hytte - Journey

Signe Hytte is a purist who has made it her mission to expose the essence of things and remove anything extra. She graduated from TEKO Design and Business School in Denmark, but previously studied Aesthetics and Culture at Aarhus University.

The Journey, which combines two classic basic geometric shapes - sphere and rectangle - is the shining result of her quest for something simple but meaningful that you feel comfortable looking at and living with. The designer herself reminds us of the moon and a very poetic inner journey.

Jaime Hayon - Formakami

Spanish artist Jamie Hayon opened his own design studio at the turn of the millennium, which has created a range of ceramics, shoes and watches in addition to lighting and furniture. The creative mind is said to be at the forefront of a new wave of artistic talent.

The Formakami is a meeting of East and West: the traditional Asian paper lantern, handmade here from ivory-colored rice paper, meets Western Scandi minimalism, which is also evident in the deliberate use of black-stained oak wood elements.
