Artificial, Pre-lit Christmas Trees

It doesn’t drop needles, it doesn’t need to be replaced each year and it helps you save money over the long term. We are talking about artificial Christmas trees with atmospheric lighting. They are available in versions that look deceptively real and can be used to add a real touch of Christmas to your home and garden.

How real do artificial Christmas trees look?

You are convinced by the benefits of an artificial tree, but you want it to look real? Not a problem. Some models look so real that, at first glance, you cannot tell whether they are artificial or not. Let’s be honest, though; when you look closely you can, of course, tell the difference. At the end of the day, however, it is about creating a festive atmosphere – and an artificial tree can do this just as well as its needled counterpart from the forest.

What do I need to bear in mind when choosing my artificial illuminated tree?

Before buying an artificial Christmas tree, you need to think about the following: Do I want it to look simple and timeless? Do I want it to look like it has just been felled in the forest? Do I want it to look artificial, perhaps with white branches or a completely stylised version? Then, of course, think about how large the tree should be and whether you want to put it in your home or in your garden.

If you are placing it outside, keep the required IP code in mind (explanation in the table below). As you can see, there is no such thing as one perfect artificial Christmas tree – instead, there are lots of great models to choose from to suit every need and to meet all individual requirements. Would you like some help in making your choice? Simply ask our team of experts – their contact details are below.

How do you erect an artificial Christmas tree?

There is no one-rule-fits-all for erecting an artificial Christmas tree. Highly stylised trees, for example, simply involve pulling an elasticated strip of fabric with nylon cable clips and numerous LEDs over a three-legged frame. By contrast, small trees for sticking into balcony boxes do not need any assembly at all. They are delivered fully assembled so you can enjoy atmospheric lighting from the off. There are, of course, also models that require you to stick the branches into the trunk. But even this is easy to master.

What sizes do artificial Christmas trees come in?

The choice is almost endless – spanning from tiny models for placing in balcony boxes to true giants, which stand at ten metres and tower over your front garden. Have a think about what you want to use your tree for and whether you are limited by a ceiling height in the room in question. Tip: Use the “Height” filter in our web-shop!

Please note: If you want to place your artificial Christmas tree in the garden, think about whether it will stand in snow and rain. Always pay attention to the IP code when considering outdoor use. Your illuminating tree should have an IP code of IP44 or above which means that the lamps on these trees are protected against foreign bodies larger than one millimetre and against splash water from any direction. This table provides a comprehensive overview:

Digit IP4X4 Solid particle protection
0 No protection
1 Effective against solid foreign objects ≥ 50 mm
2 Effective against solid foreign objects ≥ 12,5 mm
3 Effective against solid foreign objects ≥ 2,5 mm
4 Effective against solid foreign objects ≥ 1 mm
5 Dust protected
6 Dust tight
Digit IP4X Liquid ingress protection
0 No protection
1 Protection against dripping water (vertically falling drops)
2 Protection against dripping water when tilted at 15°
3 Protection against spraying water
4 Protection against splashing of water
5 Protection against water jets
6 Protection against powerful water jets
7 Protection against temporary immersion
8 Protection against continuous immersion
