Construction spotlights are mobile, bright work lights that can be repositioned on the production site as required. This is particularly important if there are no permanently installed or too few light sources on site.
But construction spotlights are also a relevant production factor for home renovation work or in the workshop, as only sufficient light in the right places enables work to be carried out safely and optimally.
Portable
Portable, cable-connected construction spotlights have a convenient carrying handle in addition to the stable installation option.
With battery
Rechargeable LED spotlights and hybrid models are more mobile as they do not require a power cable, but may not offer the same brightness.
With tripod
Wired construction spotlights with a tripod can be optimally aligned, but may be less stable, e.g. in strong winds.
Depending on the situation on site, it is decided which construction spotlight best meets the requirements. You should pay particular attention to these properties:
Brightness: The luminous intensity of a construction spotlight is specified in lumens (lm). Lumens and watts could be related to each other with halogen. This is no longer the case with LEDs, as the luminous efficacy - the ratio of watts to lumens - differs from product to product. Lumen is therefore the reliable value. Construction floodlights are in the four- to five-digit lumen range.
Protection against moisture: Construction spotlights have different levels of moisture protection. For outdoor use, construction floodlights must have at least IP44 protection.
With cable: Work lights have very different cable lengths. Ensure that the cable is sufficient for the distance between the available socket and the work location.
With rechargeable battery: The construction floodlight must meet the requirements of the construction site in terms of lumen output and battery runtime. A spare battery should also be carried.
Weight: The lighter a construction spotlight is, the more mobile it can be used. However, the stability decreases with weight or even with a tripod. If there is a risk of strong winds, for example, a construction spotlight with more weight and without a tripod is recommended.
Impact resistance: Impact-resistant variants (with a high IK impact resistance grade) reduce susceptibility to damage, which is particularly relevant for professional construction sites with a high level of activity.
Extras: Construction spotlights often come with attractive additional features. For example, there are:
Even around 1,000 lumens can make working in the dark possible in the first place.
A mobile luminaire with IK07 resists accidental impact, for example.
A built-in loudspeaker with Bluetooth function replaces the additional construction site radio.
One of the biggest advantages of LEDs over halogen light sources is the lifespan of the light source: construction spotlights with halogen last around 2,000 hours, whereas LED construction spotlights last up to 50,000 hours.
Originally, halogen spotlights were brighter, but with the further development of LED technology this is now more balanced. In addition, LEDs consume less electricity and generate less heat, which reduces the risk of fire.
