What protection rating is required for low-voltage recessed spotlights?

They provide harmonious and functional illumination for your bathroom - but only safely if you pay attention to the appropriate protection rating. Because electricity and moisture are certainly not going to be friends. The low-voltage recessed spotlight must therefore be protected against moisture ingress. Not only in the bathroom, by the way, but also in the kitchen - keyword haze.
It is best to ask an electrician to assess which protection class is appropriate. Because he knows that special requirements apply to the bathroom. The closer to the bath and shower, the higher the IP protection rating of the luminaire must be.

Are low-voltage recessed spotlights operated with a transformer?
Yes, and always. This is because they operate at a lower voltage and therefore cannot be connected to the normal mains supply (230V). For this reason, they require a transformer or power supply unit or an LED driver that converts the mains voltage from 230V. The advantage of the so-called low voltage is that the light sources in low-voltage recessed spotlights usually last longer than light sources in corresponding high-voltage luminaires.
Tip: When installing the low-voltage recessed spotlights, the prescribed minimum distance to other components must be observed. The transformer should not be mounted too close to the luminaire due to heat generation.
