The pendant light - the illuminated centerpiece of the room

It simply makes the room beautiful, cozy and inviting. We are talking about the pendant light. As an eye-catcher in the middle of the room**, it underlines your taste in furnishings. Whether vintage, Scandinavian, classic or rustic. And the most important thing: it provides very flexible light at the table.

How high above the table are pendant lights ideal?

Suspended too low, a pendant light can be disturbing. For example, when you can no longer look the other person in the face or bump your head when standing up or sitting down. The rule of thumb is therefore to hang your pendant light 80 to 100 centimeters above the table. With a height-adjustable luminaire, this is just as good a starting point - it can always be adjusted if necessary.

And if there is no table involved?

If you simply want to hang a pendant light in the room, you should make sure that you cannot bump your head while walking. With a good two meters above the floor you should be right.

How can the cable be hidden or shortened?

There are lights where the cable can be pulled into the suspension cover. So it can be easily hidden. However, trying to cut the cable yourself as an amateur electrician is certainly not an option. Because safety first Apart from that, your warranty claim would be invalidated if you were to do it yourself.

Tip: When buying lights, make sure that there is a cover under which annoying cables can be hidden. Or simply include the cable as a design element. Are hanging lamps height-adjustable?

In fact, many hanging lamps are height-adjustable thanks to a practical cable pull. This allows the incidence of light to be varied flexibly. Suspended high up on the ceiling, they can light up the whole room. Further down, the beam of light illuminates the table or kitchen island, for example, as a place of action.

Are pendant lights also available with a touch dimmer?

Yes, they do exist - the brightness can be easily adjusted - from brilliantly bright to comfortably dim. Some touch dimmers are also equipped with a memory function. The next time it is switched on, it will continue with the last selected brightness.

Are there pendant lights with remote control?

Many pendant lights are now equipped with a practical remote control. Depending on the mood

  • the light color varies (choice between warm white, universal white and daylight white)
  • choose between colorful color variants (multicolour thanks to color-changing light technologies)
  • and also dimmed.

Pendant lights made from natural or plain materials are particularly popular at the moment. Wood, Fabric , glass and concrete are in great demand. What is particularly popular are purist luminaires that make bright statements without much embellishment.

Which light source is suitable for my pendant light?

Not every hanging lamp raises the question of the right light source. This is because they are also available with permanently installed lighting technology, meaning that modern LED technology has given designers plenty of scope for slender shapes in recent years. If you are reliant on separate lamps, LEDs are a good choice thanks to their long service life, great energy savings and variety of optics.
