“Modern” can mean a number of different things. It can describe a style of furnishing, a lighting technology – even an attitude towards life! But in their own unique way, modern wall lights unite all of these meanings. What makes a wall light modern is not just its appearance, but the technology used too (or at least its compatibility with other modern lighting technologies).
Of course, anyone who uses these lights and cares about high-quality, long-lasting products must also have a modern, mindful approach to life. If this sounds like you, you can rest assured – you’re in good hands with Lights.ie when it comes to modern wall lights.
From the living room to the bathroom and hallway, modern wall lights look great in every room of the house! However, you should always make sure that the design of your new wall light matches the room. For instance, in moisture-prone rooms like the bathroom, the light has to come with the necessary IP code requirements.
The living room is generally the room that guests spend most time in, so why not use it to impress others with your sense of style. Perhaps a modern wooden wall light or a chic concrete wall light?
Modern wall lights provide area lighting in spotlight form, support general lighting with indirect lighting, and create a pleasant ambience – imagine a structured lighting effect created by lights shining upwards or downwards on the wall.
There’s usually not much room in a hallway, so we advise choosing a wall light that doesn’t stick out too far. Modern wall lights with LED lights and a flat design are the perfect solution.
Their stylish, even futuristic, appearance can be attributed to the fact that they don’t use traditional bulky light bulbs. A light with almost “invisible” lighting technology looks really modern in comparison!
These days, modern bathroom wall lights typically fall in the category of mirror lighting, with closed acrylic lamp shades and a chrome frame, for example.
But there are limits to the types of wall lights that can be used in a bathroom. After all, there’s nothing more dangerous than open bulbs in an unprotected wall light in a moisture-prone room. Lights must have certain IP codes for use in different protection zones. Your electrician will be able to tell you more about this.

These days, it’s all about LED. There are currently two different types of LED lights available – those with built-in bulbs and those with replaceable bulbs.
Built-in LED light bulbs are not replaceable but last for many years – so you’ll never have to replace them. Another advantage is that built-in LED technology allows designs to be more compact. Lights can even be completely flat!
If you find your ideal wall light but it doesn’t have LED technology, don’t panic! Simply retrofit it with an LED bulb – it’s the same process as changing any other bulb. You can then enjoy your favourite wall light with modern LED technology.
Simple! Because they …
save up to 90% on energy and have a much lower price compared to traditional light bulbs.
last up to 50,000 hours, produce less waste and are maintenance-free.
provide 100% light immediately after switching on.
make it possible to illuminate living rooms or studies with the most beautiful light.
Unfortunately, LED technology isn’t always dimmable. Please check the technical specifications on the product page to see whether the wall light is dimmable or not.
Alternatively, you can use the simplest dimming technology currently available – EasyDim. The name says it all – it simplifies dimming!
EasyDim works as follows:
The dimming technology is built into the bulb, either as a separate bulb or as part of the built-in LEDs.
There are no external dimmers connected to the lights.
You don’t need a dial to dim your light.
Simply switch the light on with the usual switch and then press the switch again.
This starts the automatic continual dimming process.
Press the switch again and the light will stay at your chosen brightness.
Feel free to get in touch with one of our specialist advisers for more information about dimmers!
If you’re looking for something even more adventurous, smart home lighting may be the thing for you. Simply insert a smart bulb into your modern wall light, go on the app, and control it remotely. You can dim them, change the colour of the lights, and much more!
