How do company premises and private homes benefit from LED in-ground luminaires?

LED in-ground luminaires for outdoor areas are used to optimize the appearance and safety of the property**. Depending on the location, whether commercial or residential, the focus can be more on security or appearance. However, it is by no means the case that the security aspect is only reserved for the commercial sector and the visual aspect only for the private sector. Regardless of whether it is a company property or a private home, each of these properties can have access roads, parking lots, gravel beds, wooden cladding for terraces or bridges leading over ponds and, of course, paths that criss-cross the property. The use of LED in-ground spotlights, whether decorative or for the benefit of safety, therefore depends on the particular characteristics of the property. It is not impossible for a high-quality recessed luminaire to fulfill both aspects at the same time.

LED in-ground spotlights in use on parking lots and access roads

Company properties sometimes need more, sometimes less large-scale parks for their employees. As employees often arrive in the dark and leave in the dark, especially in the darker seasons, these parking areas must be well lit in order to prevent accidents and to allow them to leave the company premises comfortably even when their strength is almost exhausted after a hard day's work. The building's wall luminaires are often used in combination with pole-mounted luminaires to illuminate parking areas close to buildings. While wall luminaires make the building boundaries clearly visible, pole-mounted luminaires cast a large beam of light onto a large section of the parking lots and ensure visibility. LED in-ground luminaires, on the other hand, do not illuminate the parking area from below - for which there is no reflective surface to distribute the light into the surrounding area and enable wide-area illumination - but instead ensure that the boundaries of an access road are made visible, similar to some airfield taxiways. For truck drivers, for example, this can provide impeccable orientation - the road to be used is always clearly visible. Recessed LED spotlights are also used in the hotel sector as an orientation aid as well as a visual enhancement of the hotel property: When bus or cab drivers take hotel guests to their hotels in the dark, roads flanked by recessed luminaires within the hotel complex often show them the way. Visually, on the other hand, such furnishings have a high-quality appearance - and guests immediately feel a little more drawn to the hotel.

Install and operate permanently without further maintenance: LED in-ground lights

The use of modern LED lighting technology has recently become established among outdoor luminaires. The modern recessed luminaire also uses LEDs in combination with a high-quality housing. Recessed floor luminaires have to meet high demands and often light up the entire night. If you extrapolate an average night lasting 8-12 hours to the days, you quickly come to the conclusion that conventional lighting technology reaches the limits of its service life far too quickly. Incandescent lamps that only last 1,000 hours are no longer an option. LED recessed spotlights, on the other hand, last up to 50,000 hours** depending on the manufacturer, processing quality and heat management. In contrast to incandescent lamps, the quality of light is also much better suited for outdoor use: Lamps with a white or even bluish tint are often used for commercial areas instead of the cozy warm white light sources. Many recessed floor luminaires use universal white light, which is far easier to achieve with LEDs than with other light sources. Of course, there are also many LED recessed floor spotlights in the light color warm white, especially for private use. These outdoor lights also ensure that the outdoor area and garden look particularly inviting. In addition to the service life, the savings in electricity costs with LED recessed floor lights are also extremely attractive: between 80-90% of energy can be saved with LED lighting technology and a high-quality product without any loss of brightness. The slightly higher acquisition costs are therefore often amortized within the first year of operation.

The right protection rating for LED recessed luminaires in outdoor areas

In addition to a high-quality LED lamp, recessed floor lights also require high-quality workmanship to ensure long-term satisfaction with the product. One of the most important criteria - if not the most important criterion of all - is the degree of protection, IP for short. Recessed floor spotlights are often exposed to heavy rain, which can cause the recessed floor light to be temporarily submerged in water. Depending on where it is installed, such a risk may vary, but if it is an illuminated access road, temporary flooding is quite likely. As a minimum, protection class IP67 is required here, which means that the product is dustproof on the one hand and suitable for temporary submersion (under water) on the other. It is even better to use a product with protection class IP68, which is protected against constant immersion. This degree of protection is also required for pond lights and the like, as it is the highest degree of protection available for in-ground luminaires. The dangerous combination of water and electricity is only acceptable with a correspondingly high level of protection, otherwise the beautiful and supposedly useful outdoor lighting quickly becomes a risk factor.

High-quality appearance, robust workmanship - further criteria for LED recessed floor lights

In addition to a high degree of protection and a high-quality light source, the rest of the material processing for LED recessed floor lights is also crucial. Various materials are used in these products, such as polyester resin, Plexiglas and, of course, aluminum, glass and plastic. Many recessed floor spotlights also have a frame made of stainless steel, usually square or round, which surrounds the lamp and looks high-quality and visually flawless on the one hand and requires hardly any maintenance on the other. Installing and enjoying LED lighting technology in the long term and without maintenance is the motto of LED recessed floor luminaires. It is important to choose a recessed luminaire that is clearly designated as trafficable for recessed floor luminaires that are to be used in parking lots or areas with traffic. The maximum load capacity of these lights must also be observed, otherwise accidentally or unavoidably driving over the LED in-ground light could damage it or even render it unusable. If recessed floor luminaires are not to be driven over, but possibly walked over, products should be selected that are marked as accessible.
