R7s bulbs are ideal for a cosy light around the home. But they’re not just for enjoying while you curl up with a good book. Thanks to their long service life, R7s LEDs are also perfect for private and public buildings, sports stadiums and construction sites.
Home. Work. Or watching your favourite sports team.
R7s are in more places than you think.
R7s are rod bulbs of various lengths (78 mm, 118 mm and 189 mm) with a base on both sides and recessed contacts. R7s were originally produced using halogen technology, but are now often lit by LEDs.
A special feature of the R7s is its brightness, achieved in most cases by several 1,000 watts of power consumption and 360° light emission.
Mostly in the home.
R7s bulbs with smaller wattages are used in uplights and in designer lighting by some of the leading names in the industry, including Stendimi by Gigi Ranica (Knikerboker), Talo by Neil Poulton (Artemide) and Plana by Christophe Mathieu (Bover).
But they’re not just for the home. Thanks to their brightness, R7s are used in private outdoor areas including public and corporate buildings, sports stadiums and construction sites.
Similar to other bulbs, like E27s, E14s or G9s, there are LED alternatives for R7s bulbs. For domestic and private outdoor lights, replacing them is pretty straightforward.
In the professional sector, however, having a set maximum brightness is often essential, which means R7s LEDs cannot replace 1,000 Watt halogen bulbs.
Not sure what we mean?
Well, an industrial light fitted with an R7s halogen bulb can produce 30,000 lumens at 1,500 W. But a similar brightness isn’t possible with LED bulbs because of the heat sinks required and the small lamp surface area.
With R7s LED bulbs, however, 2,500 lumens are achieved at around 15-20 W, which is more than sufficient for domestic lighting.
In normal domestic lamps with an R7s socket ...
... R7s LED bulbs can be replaced quite simply.
Converting from halogen to LED bulbs is always worthwhile, especially in your home and in the private sector. If you replace your R7s halogen bulbs with R7s LED bulbs, you’ll get ...
longer service life
good to very good colour reproduction
cosy light colour of <3,300 Kelvin
significant energy savings
Please note: If you need your light to be dimmable, special dimmable R7s LED bulbs are available in our store.
