Cellar Lights

Light for the cellar

Cellar lamps for living room cellar, laundry room and storage room

Good lighting is essential to make optimum use of the cellar: as storage, workshop or additional living space. The right basement lighting ensures safety and comfort and enables a wide range of activities to be carried out.

**Lighting in the cellar: what to look out for ** Most cellars are only fitted with narrow windows. Often no natural daylight even penetrates the interior. This makes good cellar lighting particularly important. With bright and varied lighting, even the smallest cellar becomes a usable space.

The right light for the cellar

Philips ProjectLine
How important is good basement lighting?

A well-lit basement reduces the risk of accidents, makes it easier to find your way around and improves usability. The right lighting also enhances the ambience and sense of well-being, especially if the basement is used as a living space.

Arcchio LED light source
What brightness and light color for the basement?

Brightness and light color should be adapted to the use of the room. The general lighting should be at least 100-150 lm/m². The following applies to the light color: warm white (2,700-3,300 K) for basements, universal or daylight white (from 3,300 K) for utility rooms.

Save energy in the basement with LED lighting

Energy efficiency is also an important topic in the cellar. LED lights offer many advantages, including low energy consumption and a long service life. If you want to make immediate savings, convert conventional light sources such as halogen or fluorescent lamps to LEDs in the basement.

Prios Jorell 1-phase track system
Basement with few electrical connections

The electrical connections in the basement are often limited. Rail systems are an option for using the cellar for the desired purposes. They enable a complex lighting system with just one connection.

What needs to be considered in wash basements?

In damp cellars, e.g. those used as laundry rooms or for drying laundry, luminaires with a correspondingly high IP protection rating from IP44 should be used. These lights are specially designed for use in damp rooms.

Philips Hue Indoor Sensor
Use motion detectors sensibly in the basement

Constant lighting is not required in utility and storage cellars. Sensor lights or networked, smart motion detectors are used to save energy and enjoy the convenience of automatically switched-on light.
