Synonym for glare-free
This is the PH 5 from Poul HenningsenThe PH 5 was created in 1958 in response to various sizes of incandescent lamps available on the market. Designer Poul Henningsen explained his indignation at the time that light bulb manufacturers were not acting in the interests of customers.
For this reason, he designed a luminaire that could be used with almost any size of light bulb. More than that, however, the PH 5 became synonymous with completely glare-free light thanks to its revolutionary shade design.

Designer
Poul HenningsenAfter studying at the Frederiksberg Technical School and the Technical College in Copenhagen between 1911 and 1917, the legendary designer Poul Henningsen (1894 - 1967) concentrated on lighting design - and that is what he is famous for. Throughout his life, he worked with the designer brand Louis Poulsen and perfected his work on the relationship between light structures, shadows and reflections. A theory that is still used by Louis Poulsen today.
