Is it worth converting the house to LED?
Switching to LED is already worthwhile in rented apartments. The larger the living space, the more savings potential there is. Assume that a total of 5 light sources are illuminated in a living room: 1 ceiling light, 2 wall lights, 1 table lamp, 1 ceiling floodlight:
If the light sources were operated with incandescent lamps, all the luminaires together would require around 450 watts of power. At an average kilowatt-hour price of 32.16 cents (as of September 2022 in Germany) and an average usage time of 6 hours per day, incandescent lamps therefore consume 2.70 kWh per day. That is 985.50 kWh per year, which corresponds to costs of 317 €.
costs per year: 317 €
Due to the high energy efficiency, the same brightness with LED would only require just over 70 watts. That would be a saving of around 85%. With LED, you only consume 0.42 kWh per day in the living room, i.e. 153.30 kWh per year. The costs would therefore only be around 49 €. You save well over €250** - in the living room alone. The costs for new light sources are therefore generally amortized within 1. year.

"Saving energy and protecting the environment are key issues at Lampenwelt. Through energy-efficient lighting technologies and good advice, we want to make the often technical subject of lighting transparent for our customers. This allows everyone to save energy and costs while enjoying the best light. In this way, we also want to help people to get through the dark season well and efficiently under optimum conditions, far beyond the actual product itself. We stick together - Lampenwelt and our customers!"
