What is the original Wagenfeld table lamp?

The legendary Wagenfeld lamp was designed by Professor Wilhelm Wagenfeld in 1923/24. At this time, he was 24 years old and a journeyman in the Bauhaus workshop in Weimar. The lamp is the embodiment of the Bauhaus idea: reduced to the essentials and stylish all round. The luminaire remains a benchmark for designers worldwide to this day. In addition to the original Wagenfeld WG24, there are other variants - and many copies. Only the re-editions of TECNOLUMEN are original.

What was the Bauhaus?

Wilhelm Wagenfeld was a student at the Bauhaus: the school of design during the Weimar Republic. It was founded in 1919 by the Berlin architect Walter Gropius. The Bauhaus is the center of what is today considered a classic of modernism in painting, sculpture, architecture, typography, photography, textile design and design. Although closed in 1933, the work of the Bauhaus continues to this day. With its practical, restrained and aesthetic forms, modern minimalism is a flowering of Bauhaus.
