Mushroom-shaped Onfale glass table lamp with two light sources

The Onfale table lamp has a timeless design. This is reflected in the fact that the light was designed and mass-produced for the first time in 1978, but still looks just as modern and impressive now as it did then. Both its material and its shape make a major contribution to its classic beauty. With a simple design in a minimalist mushroom shape, it is always modern and can enhance many different interior styles. The use of glass also adds to the timelessness of this table lamp. Both its base and its lampshade are made of handblown opal glass. Only at the rim of the hemispherical lampshade is there a thin ring of clear glass. The light uses two different bulbs, one in the lampshade and the other in the base. These can be switched on and off separately from one another.

Luciano Vistosi, who designed this light, was born in Venice and grew up on the island of Murano, where his family owned glass factories. The glass factories were sold after the premature death of his father, uncle and brother. Luciano Vistosi continued to work as a designer and glass artist. He designed the Onfale table lamps in three sizes for the Italian designer lighting manufacturer Artemide.
