The Gem pendant lamp has a large shade made of mouth-blown acid-etched glass, which completely encloses the supplied lamp. A special effect is created by the relief-like surface, which allows the light to partially shine through due to its three-dimensionality, creating an appealing play of light and shadow. The parallel and intersecting waves seem to flow over the entire surface of the luminaire, giving Gem a delicate appearance. Thus the luminaire is a decorative highlight by day and a floating light sculpture at night.

Gem is produced in the factory of the Venetian manufacturer Foscarini in a complex handcraft process. Foscarini is known worldwide for lamps that not only inspire with an extraordinary quality of light, but also surprise with unconventional and modern designs. To achieve this, the company works together with many renowned designers, such as the married couple Ludovica and Roberto Palomba in the case of the Gem.
