Iguazu ceiling lamp with handmade jute shade Iguazu was named after the waterfalls on the border of Brazil and Argentina, they are the largest waterfalls in South America and a popular excursion point. As the water flows downwards, so do the fine lines of the round jute umbrella. The shades are mostly handmade by artisans in Vietnam. The popular natural fibre jute, which is characterised by its special properties, was used for the ceiling lamp. In addition to its robustness, jute is considered very stretchable and tear-resistant, but sustainable aspects should also be emphasised. The main cultivation area is fertile alluvial soils, thanks to which the undemanding jute plant does not need to be fertilised. This is a great advantage for the environment and the farmers compared to intensive cotton cultivation. These aspects fit the basic idea of the Dutch brand Good & Mojo, which wants to create sustainable luminaires with its collection and do good at the same time. The company supports the WakaWaka Foundation, which provides solar products to people off the grid, and since 2019 also Eden Projects, an organisation that plants a tree for every luminaire sold.
