Cirque hanging light – a playful and effect combination of colour and shape

When you look at the Cirque hanging light, you may find that the illuminating colour spectacle reminds you of a spinning carousel and, naturally, of your carefree childhood. The Swedish designer Clara von Zweigbergk, who designed Cirque, has managed to capture the carefree nature of this time and transplant it into the room and she has done it in a fascinating way.

As far as the shape is concerned, the prize-winning designer – who picked up both the Wallpaper Design Award and the Swedish Design Award in 2012 – sought inspiration in the construction of the Onion Domes in Tivoli Gardens.

The lampshade features several different colours and is made of aluminium. It has a white interior, which reflects the light emitted. The result is very pleasant, glare-free ambient lighting, which shines downwards.

After finishing her studies, Clara von Zweigbergk worked in Milan, Los Angeles and Stockholm before setting up her own graphic design studio. She is now able to dedicate herself to her many areas of interest and to create new, striking designs like the Cirque hanging light.

The Cirque series is manufactured by the Louis Poulsen company, whose claim is nothing less than the art of lending light a shape. The lighting manufacturer was founded back in 1874.
