Flindt LED wall lamp with an impressive lighting effect – 40 cm diameter

With the Flindt LED wall lamp, the Danish designer Christian Flindt has managed to achieve a perfectly balanced symbiosis of curves, proportions and light. For its design, he used a combination of software technology, 3D printing and metal die-casting. The wall lamp - a stylish addition to the Flindt series of lights - was created in collaboration with the Louis Poulsen lighting company and can be used not only indoors, but also on outdoor walls thanks to the IP code IP65.

The Flindt wall lamp appears to be floating in front of the wall. This illusion is created by the lampshade, which is in the form of an ellipsis consisting of two overlapping elements, being slightly raised from the wall mount. At the top of the lampshade, there is an opening, from which the light of the two built-in LEDs is distributed downwards. This creates a softly glowing ring of reflected light at the transition between the convex and concave shapes. As part of the light is emitted to the back, an indirect light component also emerges, producing a cosy ambience.

A year after completing his training (2002), Christian Flindt established his own studio at the Århus School of Architecture. He develops innovative furniture that demonstrates his love of experimentation, for example his sculptural chairs Orchid, Riple and Light Lounger. He has already exhibited at trade fairs throughout the world and was awarded the Bo Bedre Design Award in 2005. The Flindt series of lights that he designed for the lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen from Denmark, which previously consists of a floor lamp, two pendant lights and a bollard light, was awarded the Bolig Magasinet Design Award.

The lighting company Louis Poulsen, which has existed since 1874, has adopted the Scandinavian design principle “form follows function and – with its products based on designs by well-known designers and architects, including Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Alfred Homann, Verner Panton and Øivind Slaatto – stands for a simple and attractive design that creates a pleasant atmosphere.
