Highly efficient Munkegaard LED recessed luminaire for ceiling lighting
The LED recessed ceiling light Munkegaard by Louis Poulsen presents itself timelessly beautiful. The original design dates back to 1955, when Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) developed the ceiling light for the Munkegård School in the Danish town of Gentofte, north of Copenhagen. The legendary school was one of the first single-storey schools in Denmark at the time and is considered one of Arne Jacobsen's most important architectural works. However, Arne Jacobsen not only designed buildings, but also attached great importance to their interior design, so that he also designed wallpaper, cutlery, furniture and lighting fixtures.
With the LED recessed ceiling luminaire Munkegaard equipped with modern LED lighting technology, the impression is created when the light is switched on, as if the luminaire glass would float directly under the room ceiling. This impression is deceptive, because it is a recessed luminaire and the glass is framed by a metal surround. A light source that provides balanced glare-free ambient lighting.
