Antique designed outdoor wall lamp Nyhavn in copper - Design: Alfred Homann & Ole V. Kjær
In 1976 the lighting company Louis Poulsen from Denmark announced a competition for luminaires for the illumination of old quarters worth preserving, for which Alfred Hohmann & Ole V. Kjær created the outdoor wall lamp Nyhavn. They won first place with their design of the wall lamp with the cone-shaped, wide shade, which directs the light directly downwards over a wide area and thus provides a large-area diffused ambient lighting.
Nyhavn also radiates the light of the lamp used upwards all around. Three anti-glare rings ensure a glare-free lighting effect.
The company Louis Poulsen was founded in 1874. The lamps that the Danish company produces do not get their shape for their own sake, but to give shape to the light they produce.
