Artichoke hanging light: a skilfully crafted designer object When you see the Artichoke hanging light, the plant of the same name from the composite family, whose edible inflorescences are often eaten as vegetables, involuntarily comes to mind. Das is due to the 72 leaf-like metal elements that make up the body of the Artichoke hanging light, which is still largely handcrafted today in order to maintain the high quality standards. The precisely angled leaves are distributed over twelve individual rows of six leaves each and create a very homogeneous and completely glare-free light emission, just as its creator, the designer Poul Henningsen, had set himself the goal for his luminaire creations.

During his collaboration with Louis Poulsen from 1925 to 1967, Poul Henningsen created numerous light models in which he always realised his views on the duality of design and light. The Danish light manufacturer Louis Poulsen stands for high-quality lights and has established itself as one of the most important suppliers of architectural and decorative lighting through its close collaboration with well-known designers and architects.
