Louis Poulsen VL 56 hanging light polished brass

VL 56 pendant light with polished brass lampshade The VL 56 hanging light was created by the well-known designer Vilhelm Lauritzen, who designed this unusual light source for Folkets Hus in the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen. The building, which opened in 1956, was originally intended for the Danish labour movement and is now used as a concert hall under the name Vega. Lauritzen designed everything in the building: from doorknobs, staircases and sockets to furniture and lights. The VL 56 pendant light still hangs above the wood-panelled Bär adjacent to the concert hall. The brass version was reintroduced in 2023 with slight adjustments and improvements. VL 56 emits a downward glare-free light. A radial perforation pattern is incorporated around the opening to create a softer transition between light and dark. A soft, beautiful light pattern is created on both the lampshade and the surrounding surfaces. Note: The brass surfaces are untreated. This means that the surface will change over time and develop a patina - incl. white textile cable Louis Poulsen has stood for outstanding design and high-quality craftsmanship since 1874.
