Wohlert designer pendant light made of glass - created by Vilhelm Wohlert The Wohlert pendant light is characterised by an almost spherical shade made of matt, white, hand-blown glass. The lampshade is open at the bottom and mainly spotlights the light directly downwards. However, a soft glow of light also penetrates all around through the glass surface. The ideal light for mood lighting with an atmospheric character. Wohlert is suitable for both basic and targeted area lighting, for example for a table. The suspension height can only be varied during installation. The pendant tube is made of brushed steel and emphasises the modern look. The creative mind behind this timelessly beautiful luminaire design is Vilhelm Wohlert (1920-2007). He completed his architectural training at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1944. One station of his working life was as a professor (1968-1986) at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He was also deputy director there from 1968-1971. From 1951-1953, he was a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley, in the USA, where Wohlert designed the Louisiana Museum of Art, among other things. In addition to his work as an architect, he designed a series of lights in collaboration with Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, including - together with Eleni Birkner - the Magnum light in 1995, the Magasin ceiling light (1974), the Micro light (1991) and the Satellit pendant light (1959). Wohlert was awarded the Gold Medal for his creative work in 1949 and the C. F. Hansen Medal from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1979. The Wohlert pendant light is produced by the Danish company Louis Poulsen, which - starting with Poul Henningsen's three-shade system in 1925/26 - has always followed the guiding principle of "giving light form". The aim is to create an ambience that allows people and rooms to shine in the right light.
