Designer pendant luminaire PH 3/2 with classic three-shade system

The PH 3/2 pendant luminaire enables glare-free illumination of the surroundings with light directed primarily downwards. The texture of the three-layer, mouth-blown opal glass, which is glossy on the outside and matt sandblasted on the inside, makes the light appear very soft and cosy.

The Danish designer, architect, writer and journalist Poul Henningsen created the three-shade system that characterises the design of the PH 3/2 pendant luminaire for luminaire manufacturer Louis Poulsen. The collaboration began in 1925 and was to continue until the designer's death in 1967.

Throughout his life, Poul Henningsen strove to create luminaires with completely glare-free light output and to satisfy the human need for light with attractive design. This aspiration is still the credo of the lighting company Louis Poulsen, which still uses Henningsen's pioneering work in lighting theory regarding the relations of shadows, reflections, light rendering and structures.
