Design classic: Topan pendant lamp by Verner Panton
The fact that this lamp creation is already several decades old does not show at first glance, so it belongs without a doubt to the classics, just such products that are timeless and which can not be affected by trends. The Danish architect and designer Verner Panton designed Topan in 1959. It was his first mass-produced luminaire. It was followed a few years later by the Flowerpot, which is still well-known and popular today.
As simple as Topan may seem, the pendant lamp has an unmistakable charm and timelessness that make it still seem modern more than 60 years after its creation. The aluminium shade was handcrafted from a single piece. Only experienced and talented artisans are considered for this type of manufacturing.
Topan is nowadays produced by the Danish company &Tradition. &Tradition aims to include and produce both timeless, traditional and modern designs that will become the icons of the future in its portfolio.
