Designer light for the desk: Taj by Ferruccio Laviani The Taj model by designer Ferruccio Laviani, who has been designing lights and furniture for the Italian company Kartell for over 20 years, is a deliberate alternative to the articulated, mechanised desk lamp. Its sculptural yet simple form allows the table lamp to make a statement in terms of aesthetics on the one hand and fulfil its function as a desk lamp on the other. The LEDs are installed in the upper end of the boldly curved body, which is virtually made from a single mould, so that they can emit their light downwards onto the table surface. Kartell's most prominent designer pieces include the K 1340 children's chair and the KS 1481 lemon squeezer. In terms of lights, it is the 4006 model by Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni from 1959 and the Tic Tac series that serve as flagships and are highly recognisable. Many of Kartell's designer pieces have not only won various prizes, but can already be admired in museums despite their relatively young age.
