What bulbs should I use in a black floor lamp?

If it’s a black floor lamp with a socket, LED bulbs are the first choice.

Here, the option is between:

  • Lamps with matt or white bulbs

  • Filament bulbs, which resemble an incandescent lamp

  • Head mirror lamps, for indirect light

If the floor lamp is used in the living room, a warmer light colour of less than 3,300 Kelvin is recommended. In a work area, a light between 3,300 and 5,300 Kelvin, is advisable.

Oh, and if you’re using the light for long term use (and why wouldn’t you?) LEDs will save you money on bills due to their high energy efficiency.

What is special about black floor lamps with permanently installed LEDs?

In addition to high energy savings, the unique feature of black free-standing lamps, permanently installed LEDs, is that they take on modern forms that wouldn't otherwise be possible using other shapes and colours.

These include designs with geometric shapes and filigree lamps, where the light source is "invisible" because the bulb and light source is one.
