Iridescent designer pendant light Fun 1DM made from shell chains The designer pendant light Fun 1DM from VERPAN is not only visually appealing, but also acoustically impressive. Iridescent plates made of real mother-of-pearl, connected to small metal rings to form chains of different lengths, hang from three chrome-plated metal hoops and embody pure elegance not only as a source of light, but also as a spatial design element. The nickname "Mother of Pearl" refers to the material mother-of-pearl - a natural composite material that is mainly found in mussel shells. Mother-of-pearl is characterised by its special surface structure, which creates an iridescent sheen when exposed to light. It is therefore understandable why Panton chose mother-of-pearl as the main material for one of his most important luminaire creations. With its iridescent lustre, the Fun pendant light is able to fill its entire surroundings. And this light even has a special acoustic appeal, because as soon as the mother-of-pearl chains start to move, whether due to a draught or simply because the heat generated by the bulb causes them to vibrate, a harmonious play of sounds can be heard. Verner Panton, who initially focused on the design of home furniture, became famous for the Panton Chair, which even made it onto the cover of Vogue magazine in 1995 together with Kate Moss. But Panton also made a name for himself with extraordinary works of lighting art. The Dan was an advocate of innovative design and loved experimenting with colours and materials to create not just furniture, but entire spatial sculptures with design qualities.
